Originally published in 1975, Oblique Strategies is a method for promoting creativity jointly created by Brian Eno and multimedia artist Peter Schmidt.
Taking the form of a deck of cards, each card offers a constraint intended to break creative blocks by encouraging lateral thinking (a "radical intervention with roots in Eastern philosophy").
Oblique Strategies was used in the making of David Bowie's album Heroes (1977), by The B-52s for their debut album, by MGMT, and film director Jim Jarmusch.
