Kandinsky’s four “analytical drawings“ of Palucca, published in Das Kunstblatt arts journal, confirm how closely the dancer’s style aligned with the Bauhaus aesthetic.
Concerned with the radical simplification of subject matter, Bauhaus compositions emphasised pure lines, blocks of color, and geometric shapes. Kandinsky's personal approach explored the rhythmic potential of shape, form, and structure.
